Heraldic banners
A heraldic banner, additionally referred to as banner of arms, shows the fundamental coat of arms solely: i.e. it comprises the design often displayed on the shield and omits the crest, helmet or coronet, mantling, supporters, motto or every other components related to the coat of arms (for additional particulars of those components, see heraldry).
A heraldic banner is often sq. or rectangular.
A distinction exists between the heraldic banner and the heraldic standard. The excellence, nevertheless, is usually misunderstood or ignored. For instance, the Royal Standard of the United Kingdom is actually a banner of the royal arms.
